Pre Beach Shaving Tip Post Pic 1

Before hitting the beach consider shaving one day before to prevent skin irritation from salt water, sand, and sun. Although it may be tempting to shave with soap lather, opt for a shave cream or gel to avoid the drying effects of soap. Shaving opens pores and exfoliates the top layer of skin that acts as a natural moisture barrier. Use moisturizing shave products to help retain any loss moisture and protect skin that becomes sensitized post shave. Three step shaving isn’t just for men, says the Art of Shaving Pro Michael Williams. Ladies step up your shave routine with the Art of Shaving’s The 4 Elements of the Perfect Shave Kit ($100). The kit is complete with a pre shave oil, shaving cream, pure badger brush, and after shave balm. The pre-shave oil aids razor to glide smoothly over skin while preventing nicks. The velvety after shave balm calms and heals skin by closing pores and replenishing lost moisture. Williams recommends the original unscented and fresh lemon formulas for ladies.

SHAVING DO’S & DON’TS

DO Shave after taking a hot shower. Steam softens skin and opens pores.

DON’T Use Soap in lieu of shave cream. Soap can dry the skin.

DO Shave in the direction of the grain, then against the direction of the grain for a close shave.

DON’T Press razor into skin, instead glade razor
